Memorial to Czechia’s three resistance movements opens in Lošany

A memorial to the three resistance movements present in Czechia during the 20th century opened up on Friday on the site of the former home of resistance fighter and Czechoslovak legionary Josef Mašín in Lošany, Central Bohemia. The opening of the publically funded memorial took place on the occasion of the 126th anniversary of Mašín’s birth.

Prime Minister Petr Fiala and Senate Speaker Miloš Vystrčil attended the event together with Mašín’s daughter Zdena.

The first Czech resistence took place during the First World War, the second during the Nazi occupation of Bohemia and Moravia from 1939 to 1945 and the third was a period of resistance against the Communist regime.
