Media: Czech govt. applied for 81 percent of vaccines it had right to
The Czech government ordered 81 percent of the Covid vaccines that it had the right to claim from the European Union, the news website iHned.cz reported on Tuesday. The country has enough vaccines to inoculate 44 percent of the adult population by the end of June; only four EU states have less.
The Ministry of Health said the situation stemmed from the decisions of previous health ministers with regard to the existing vaccination strategy when they were in office.
The current minister of health, Jan Blatný, says as soon as he was appointed at the end of October he increased the country’s order for Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. One of his predecessors, Adam Vojtěch, said when he was in charge only orders for AstraZeneca vaccines were dealt with.
