Mayors and Independents to run independently in municipal elections
The Mayors and Independents Party (STAN) has said it will run independently in the municipal elections in Prague. According to deputy mayor, Petr Hlubuček of STAN, the party expects a double-digit election result and would not enter into a local government coalition with Andrej Babis‘ ANO party.
The Civic Democrats, TOP 09 and the Christian Democrats, whose alliance did exceptionally well in October’s general elections, have already agreed to stand together in the municipal elections as well.
Prague City Hall is now ruled by the Pirate Party, Praha Sobě and the former election alliance of Mayors and Independents, TOP 09 and Christian Democrats. ANO and the Civic Democrats are in the opposition.
