Matěj Ondřej Havel elected new TOP 09 leader
Matěj Ondřej Havel has been elected the new leader of TOP 09 party at its congress in Prague. The MP and former deputy chairman won the support of 120 out of 171 delegates — just over 70 percent. He had no rival in the race.
Havel, who is 38, replaces Markéta Pekarová Adamová, who led the party for six years. She decided not to run again for health reasons and also gave up her seat in parliament.
Delegates also chose Jiří Pospíšil, a former justice minister, as the party’s first deputy chairman. He defeated Vlastimil Válek, who had held the post until now.
