March 1982: Runner Kratochvílová sets “other” longstanding record
Czech runner Jarmila Kratochvílová is best-known for setting the women’s 800m world record in 1983 with a time of 1:53.28. However, it is not her only long-standing record. On March 7, 1982 the athlete set a time of 49.59 seconds in Milan for an indoor 400m record that has also not been bested in the intervening decades.
