Macík wins stage five of Dakar Rally, extends lead in trucks

Martin Macík dominated stage five of the Dakar Rally, claiming his second stage win of this year’s event and strengthening his overall lead in the truck category. The Czech driver is now chasing a third consecutive Dakar victory.

In the car class, Martin Prokop set the third-fastest time of the day and moved up to tenth overall. Among the motorbikes, Milan Engel is currently the top Czech rider in 21st place overall.

Thursday’s stage marked the second part of the marathon leg of the 48th Dakar Rally. Competitors had no mechanical assistance and spent the night camping in the desert.
