Lipavský welcomes President Biden's nomination for ambassador to Czechia

Czech foreign Minister Jan Lipavský welcomed in a statement to the Czech News Agency on Thursday the White House's announcement that US President Joe Biden has nominated Bijan Sabet for the post of US ambassador to the Czech Republic. The post has been vacant since the end of 2020 when the previous ambassador, Stephen King, relinquished his position when President Biden took office.

The fifty-three-year-old Mr Sabet is the co-founder and general partner of the venture capital company Spark Capital. Prior to that, he worked as a senior executive at a number of technology start-up companies in Silicon Valley and Massachusetts. The president's nomination now needs to be approved by the US Senate.
