Lipavský: Russia situation approaching civil war

The minister of foreign affairs, Jan Lipavský, says the situation in Russia is approaching civil war. In an interview on Saturday with Deník N, he said that two criminals had set into each other. This follows an uprising by the Wagner mercenary army headed by Yevgeny Prigozhin, which Russian President Vladimir Pution said would be punished.

Mr. Lipavský said it was a very destabilising situation that confirmed the conclusions reached by the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a review of relationships with Russia, meaning that Russia will pose a security threat to Europe and to Czechia for decades to come.

He also said that a warning against travelling to the country remained in place.
