Lipavský: Recognizing Palestine not productive under current conditions

Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský said today that recognizing the State of Palestine is not productive at this time, citing the fact that the Gaza Strip is effectively controlled by the terrorist group Hamas. Any such move, he stressed, must come through mutual agreement between the parties.

Speaking at a press conference at the Czernin Palace in Prague on Wednesday, Lipavský reiterated that Czechia supports a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but emphasized the need for meaningful dialogue before recognition can be considered.

Meanwhile, France, along with 14 other countries, called on the international community to express its intention to recognize Palestine. The initiative, concluded at a two-day conference in New York, was backed by nations including Canada and Australia.
