Lipavský: Finnish NATO accession motivation for other aspirants

The Czech minister of foreign affairs, Jan Lipavský, says that the example of Finland shows that if a state is ready to join NATO the accession process can be very fast. He said the Finnish story served as a message and motivation for other aspirants.

Mr. Lipavský made the comment after a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels in which Finland participated for the first time since joining the alliance this week.

The Czech foreign policy chief also backed continued support for Ukraine until its territorial integrity was completely restored within its internationally recognised borders.
