Lipavský to attend meetings of V4, B9 and EU ministers in New York
Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský will meet with ministers from the Visegrad Group countries, the Bucharest Nine, and the Foreign Affairs Council on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly currently taking place at the UN Headquarters in New York, the Czech News Agency reports.
As the presiding country of the EU Council, Czechia is also organising many events and the foreign minister is due to make a record number of appearances at the assembly. He will make a speech on Wednesday evening in the General Debate, and on Thursday evening, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is hosting a Transatlantic dinner at which Mr. Lipavský will speak about the legacy of the first president of the Czech Republic, Václav Havel.
The Czech head of diplomacy also has meetings planned with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo, and his counterparts from various countries around the world including Azerbaijan, Japan, and the UAE, among others. The main topics of the meetings include the war in Ukraine and its effects, including inflation and the energy and food crises.
