Libušín chalet reconstruction wins Czech national Gloria Musaealis prize

This year’s “Gloria Musaealis” award for best museum project went to the historic Libušín chalet in the Beskydy Mountains, which was renovated after a fire.

The Libušín and Maměnka chalets, which opened at Pustevny in 1899, have become a symbol of the Beskydy Mountains.

Jindřich Ondruš, director of National Open Air Museum in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, which administers the buildings, received the award for the national cultural monument restoration.

Ondruš thanked the experts and craftsmen who carried out the reconstruction, as well as all people who contributed funds to realise it.

In total 56 museums and galleries submitted 98 projects to be considered in this 19th year of the “Gloria Musaealis” award.
