Legendary rock frontman Petr Janda celebrates his 80th birthday
Petr Janda, founder and frontman of legendary Czech rock band Olympic, celebrated his 80th birthday on Monday.
Olympic are known for being one of the longest-running bands in Czech musical history – next year it will be 60 years since the band’s inception, and Janda is still getting up on stage, performing at the recent benefit concert for Ukraine on Wenceslas Square in March. Olympic’s 2022 tour is already in full swing, with more performances planned for throughout the spring and summer. Janda is also a prolific songwriter, having written hundreds of songs during his more than sixty year career. Olympic released their most recent album, Kaťata, in 2020, 52 years after the release of their first and possibly most famous album, Želva (Turtle). He released a solo album, Asi se mi nebude chtít, in April.
