Legendary Czech basketball player Jiří Zídek dies aged 78
Legendary Czech basketball player and coach Jiří Zídek has died at the age of 78, the Czech Basketball Federation wrote on its website on Saturday.
Zídek, who is widely considered as the best player in Czechoslovak basketball history, played for Slavia Prague for 14 consecutive seasons. He won silver and bronze at the European Champioships as part of the Czechoslovak representation and participated in the Munich Olympics in 1972.
In 2019, he was inducted into the FIBA Hall of Fame as the as the first Czech ever.
