Ledecká first-ever recipient of European Union sports trophy

Three-time Olympic champion Ester Ledecká received the European Union Trophy for the best athlete from an EU country from the Spanish Royal couple on Thursday.

The Czech skier and snowboarder is the first recipient of the award, which was introduced on the occasion of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union last year.

The prize was handed out along with Spain’s National Sports Awards at a ceremony at the presidential palace El Pardo in Madrid.
