Labour Office: Unemployment fell to 3.7 percent in June

The rate of unemployment in the Czech Republic improved in June, falling from May’s 3.9 percent to 3.7 percent, the Labour Office announced on Friday. The number of people looking for work decreased to 273,000 in June, while the number of jobs on offer rose to 355,000.

Statisticians believe that the main reason behind the fall in unemployment were an improving epidemiological situation and the lack of foreign workers. Several businesses that were hit hard by the pandemic have been able to restart and there has also been a rise in seasonal work offers in sectors such as construction, agriculture, hospitality and forestry.
