Labour minister proposing to raise minimum wage

Labour Minister Marian Jurečka will submit to the government a proposal to raise the minimum wage from January, the ctk news agency reported. According to the minister’s proposal the minimum wage should correspond to 41 percent of the average wage in the Czechia, although he did not specify the increase proposed. According to current data, it would amount to around CZK 350. The minimum wage is now CZK 16,200. Trade unions have demanded a CZK 2,000 increase this year due to soaring inflation. Employers, on the other hand, are vehemently opposing a steep rise.
