Kvitová misses out on 30th career title in Cincinnati

Petra Kvitová was beaten 6-2 6-4 by Caroline Garcia of France in the final of tennis’s Cincinnati Open on Sunday. At one point during the match the Czech player had to leave the court for treatment on her knee.

It was Kvitová’s 40th elite-level career final and victory would have given the two-time Wimbledon champion her 30th title.

Her run in Cincinnati lifted her to 21st in the world, making her the top-ranked Czech at present.
