Kulhánek: Czechia should not recognise Taliban but some communication necessary
Under no circumstances should the Czech Republic recognise the rule of the Taliban, Czech Foreign Minister Jakub Kulhánek said on Sunday. However, it will be necessary to communicate with the organisation somehow. Most important is that the European Union finds a common approach, Mr Kulhánek said. The statement was made before the foreign minister’s flight to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, the Czech News Agency reports.
Last week saw the Taliban announce its interim government in Afghanistan, more than three weeks after seizing control of the country. According to the European Union, the Taliban’s interim government is not inclusive and does not reflect the ethnic and religious diversity of the Afghan population.
