Kulhánek calls for apology from Scottish FA over comment on Czech children

The Czech minister of foreign affairs, Jakub Kulhánek, has asked the British ambassador to Prague, Nick Archer, to pass on a call to the Scottish Football Association to apologise for, and to distance itself from, equality and diversity advisor Marvin Bartely.

Mr. Bartely said he had not been surprised by alleged racism from Czech children at a game between Sparta Prague and Glasgow Rangers on Thursday. He said they behaved that way because of the behavior they see around them and compared them to “rotten fruit”.

Mr. Kulhánek said he had informed Mr. Archer about the great outrage caused to Czechs by what he called Mr. Bartely’s “scandalous comparison”.

The children-only match in Prague saw booing of Rangers’ black player Glen Kamara, who had previously accused a Slavia Prague player of racism toward him.
