Krkonoše National Park staff unions declare strike alert amid growing tensions over management
Trade unions at the Krkonoše National Park Administration (KRNAP) have declared a strike alert over uncertainty among employees and concerns about the park’s future direction. They have called a meeting with the administration’s widely criticised director, Petr Moravec, asking him to explain his management’s plans to staff.
Meanwhile, representatives of environmental organisations, experts and civic initiatives handed Environment Minister Igor Červený a petition calling for Moravec’s dismissal. The petition, delivered outside the ministry during a protest event, has collected nearly 5,000 signatures.
Criticism of Moravec and calls for his resignation intensified following Tuesday’s briefing on the findings of an audit at KRNAP and his earlier dismissal of two deputy directors, Jakub Kašpar and Luděk Khol.
Moravec said on Tuesday that neither deputy had met his expectations of how people in those positions should contribute to the park administration’s financial management.
