Klempíř: The amounts allocated for Czech Television and Czech Radio in the law may still change
According to Culture Minister Ota Klempíř (Motorists), the expected amendments to the draft law on public service media could also affect the amounts already allocated for the budgets of Czech Television (ČT) and Czech Radio (ČRo). He said this in today’s Sunday debate on Czech Television. The draft bill, which includes abolishing TV and radio license fees and has been criticized by the opposition and some experts, is in his view well written, although he expects revisions after the consultation process. Klempíř’s proposal would shift funding for ČT and ČRo from license fees to the state budget, while also cutting their funding. License fees currently make up a substantial part of public media revenues.
