Kantar poll: ANO leads in August, Spolu slips, smaller parties gain

If elections were held in August, the ANO movement would win with 33 percent of the vote, according to a Kantar poll for Czech Television released on Sunday. The Spolu coalition (Civic Democrats, Christian Democrats and TOP09) would take 20 percent. Both scored slightly worse than in June. Tomio Okamura’s anti-EU and anti-NATO Freedom and Direct Democracy Party (SPD) also weakened.

By contrast, support grew for the Mayors and Independents (Starostové), the Pirates, Stačilo! and Motoristé sobě — all of whom would narrowly enter parliament.

The survey was carried out between August 4 and 22 among 1,029 respondents.
