Justice minister nominee Blažek denies being investigated by police

The candidate for minister of justice in the new Czech government, Pavel Blažek of the Civic Democrats, denies that he is being investigated by the police. Mr. Blažek made the comment after a meeting with President Miloš Zeman on Wednesday, a day after news outlets wrote that he was being investigated on suspicion of corruption.

Mr. Zeman, who is frequently critical of the media, told the MP that he should not let himself be beaten by journalists.

The head of state is holding talks with all nominees for posts in the new cabinet.
