Javelin thrower Jakub Vadlejch named Athlete of Year

Javelin thrower Jakub Vadlejch has been named Czech Athlete of the Year for the first time. The 31-year-old took a silver medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. Vadlejch, who came second in the poll in 2017 and 2019, is the first man to have won since 2006, when decathlete Roman Šebrle took the award.

The annual Athlete of the Year prize is voted on by athletics officials, trainers and journalists.
