Interior Ministry warns of rising extremist propaganda tied to Russia

Anti-system movements and extremist groups have long supported Russia's regime, helping to advance its ambitions in Central and Eastern Europe, the Ministry of the Interior warned in its 2024 extremism report, released on Friday. While these groups reduced their activities in the second half of the year, online radicalisation remains a key risk.

Though physical violence and public disturbances are still rare in the Czech Republic, threats to democratic institutions are rising. The anti-system movement, which promotes conspiracy theories and denies the Czechia’s legitimacy, showed signs of weakening but still faces growing online influence. Right-wing extremist platforms are particularly dangerous, attracting individuals who might not otherwise engage in extremist ideologies, the report says.
