Interior minister wants state of emergency declared to help Ukrainian refugees more effectively
In order to make the ongoing support for people fleeing from war-stricken Ukraine more effective, it may be necessary for the state to declare a state of emergency in the Czech Republic; Interior Minister Vít Rakušan tweeted on Wednesday, adding that the government would decide when to enact it. Especially regional districts would then be able to use their human and material resources more effectively, he said.
A state of emergency was enacted several times in the Czech Republic over the past two years due to the coronavirus pandemic. It gives the government extraordinary powers designed to better manage crises.
