Interior Minister Rakušan warns against manipulators in hard times

Czech Interior Minister Vít Rakušan has urged Czechs not to fall prey to manipulators who offer simple but unrealistic solutions to the consequences of the war waged by Russia against the whole of Europe. In a post on Twitter, Mr. Rakušan said that people's fear in uncertain times is understandable, but the solutions presented by populists are not the answer. On Wednesday tens of thousands of Czechs gathered on Wenceslas Square to demonstrate against the government’s policies at a time of soaring inflation and global energy crisis. They demanded the government’s demise, direct gas supply contracts with Russia at low prices and a radical change in foreign policy that would make Czechia a neutral country.
