Interior minister: extended border controls not a problem for travelers

Controls at the borders with Germany and Austria have very little impact on cross-border movement and present few complications for Czech citizens travelling abroad, Czech Interior Minister Vít Rakušan told the Czech Press Agency in response to the news that the border checks are to be extended.

Germany has extended border controls with Czechia, Poland and Switzerland until mid-June, Austria announced on Saturday it would extend border checks with the Czech Republic and other countries until mid-April.

Meanwhile, Czechia terminated temporary controls on its border with Slovakia on February 2, saying the situation had significantly improved and could be handled with occasional police spot checks in the region.
