Installation of new organ begins in St. Vitus Cathedral
The installation of a new organ has begun in St. Vitus Cathedral, which stands within Prague Castle. A truck loaded with pipes arrived at Hradčany Square on Tuesday, ahead of the start of construction on Wednesday. The installation will complete almost a decade of efforts by many donors, institutions and individuals who have joined forces in a public collection organised by the St. Vitus Organ Endowment Fund.
A final 2.5 million crowns remain to be collected before the entire project is completed. More than 106 million crowns have been collected so far. The official ceremonial inauguration of the new organ will take place on June 15th 2026.
