Instagram accounts in Czechia reach 2.9 mn, up 20 pct in past year

The number of Czech Republic-based Instagram users, a social network for sharing photos and videos, has increased by about a fifth this year to 2.9 million. Over 60 percent are aged between 18 and 34, according to Ami Digital.

"Instagram is the most dynamic social network in the Czech Republic. Its share is growing every year. Its stories format is increasingly popular,” Ami Digital director Vladan Crha told news agency ČTK. “At the same time, it is also the best-rated social network with stories.”

Instagram is the second-most popular social network in the Czech Republic after its owner – Facebook. About 54 percent of users are women, but younger users of both sexes are the most active, with 14 percent of users aged 15 to 29 posting on Instagram on a daily basis.

The most followed Czech on Instagram is goalkeeper Petr Čech, who has more than 2 million followers, followed by television presenter Leoš Mareš and artist Silvia Mahdal, who each have around 1 million followers.
