Inflation 3.7 pct higher in January

Czech inflation slowed down in January as consumer prices grew by 3.7 percent year-on-year, as compared to 4.1 in December. In monthly terms, the Consumer Price Index rose by 1.5 percent, The development is in line with analysts' expectations.

The Consumer Price Index differs for different groups of citizens. According to data provided by the Czech Statistical Office, at the end of last year, inflation for households of employed people grew by 3.8 percent year-on-year, while old-age pensioners suffered a 5.3-percent increase. This is due to the different composition of consumer baskets of these groups.
