Index: Housing conditions in Czechia are fifth worst among EU countries

Housing conditions in Czechia are currently the fifth worst among EU countries. Although Czechia remains in the same position in the ranking as last year, some indicators have changed. Today, the average apartment costs approximately 13.6 times the average annual salary, which is the third worst result in the EU. Last year, purchasing an apartment required 12.9 times the annual salary. On the other hand, rental housing in Czechia ranks as the fifth most affordable in comparison to other EU countries.

About one-tenth of people spend over 40% of their income on housing, compared to 9% of households last year that were significantly burdened by housing costs. In this indicator as well, Czechia ranks fifth worst in the EU, whereas last year it was in eighth place. This data comes from this year's Prosperity and Financial Health Index, compiled by Česká spořitelna and the Evropa v datech (Europe in Data) portal.
