Imports of animals from Hungary and Slovakia now allowed after foot-and-mouth disease passes

Sheep, goats, pigs, and cattle can once again be transported from Hungary and Slovakia starting Tuesday. The State Veterinary Administration has lifted the ban and border checks, stating that there is no evidence of continued spread of foot-and-mouth disease.

The import ban was imposed last week following an outbreak in Hungary near the Slovak border. However, the administration decided to ease the restrictions after confirming that the outbreak had been contained.
