Hladík ministerial role in doubt after police raids
The candidate to become new Czech minister of environment, Petr Hladík, may not now go forward for the post. The office of Mr. Hladík, who is a deputy mayor of Brno, was among the targets of police raids in the city on Tuesday.
The leader of his party the Christian Democrats, Marian Jurečka, said it was important that nobody enter government for the grouping burdened by question marks or negative media coverage.
Mr. Jurečka was due to discuss the matter with President Miloš Zeman on Thursday but that meeting has been cancelled.
The current minister of the environment is standing down for health reasons.
