Highest number of new Covid-19 cases since mid-April recorded Friday

Some 168 new cases of Covid-19 were detected in the Czech Republic on Friday, the highest figure for a single day since April 11. Daily increases have fluctuated markedly in recent weeks due to targeted testing carried out in parts of the country where local outbreaks have occurred.

On Friday comprehensive testing of workers at the ČSM-Sever mine in Stonava in Karviná in the Moravian-Silesian Region was launched.

According to Czech Ministry of Health information as of Saturday at 11 a.m., a total of 11,044 cases of the coronavirus have been discovered in the Czech Republic. Some 349 people have died with the disease it causes.
