Health minister wants supplementary health insurance for above-standard care

Health Minister Vlastimil Válek wants to introduce supplementary health insurance for above-standard care and is planning to put forward a proposal early next year. The minister said the scope of the above standard care must not include anything that is currently covered by public health insurance and it must not worsen the quality or accessibility of healthcare. As an example he mentioned more thorough  preventive check-ups, which some companies are already covering for their managers, telemedicine or social health care, i.e. care for elderly patients in inpatient social care facilities.
