Health Minister: facemask rules can be lifted once 75 pct of population is immunized
As soon as around 75 percent of the population is fully immunized against Covid-19, the requirement to wear facemasks in certain settings can be lifted, along with similar measures, Health Minister Adam Vojtěch said on Sunday.
Speaking during a debate broadcast on public television, Vojtěch noted that only around 54 percent of the population has been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 so far.
Medical Association President Milan Kubek noted that "herd immunity" will be achieved once 85 to 90 percent of the population is vaccinated. Both he and lower house Health Committee head Vlastimil Válek, warn there is dwinsling interest in getting vaccinated.
