Head of Prague’s Motol hospital dismissed following charges of bribery

Czech Health Minister Vlastimil Válek has dismissed the head of Motol Hospital, Miloslav Ludvík from his post, effective immediately. The decision came just hours after a police raid in which over a dozen people, including Ludvik himself were detained. According to the CTK news agency, the CEO is among 16 people charged with bribery and fraud in construction contracts worth more than CZK 4 billion.

Motol is the largest hospital in the Czech Republic, treating over a million patients annually. Ludvík has led the institution since 2000, apart from a brief tenure as health minister.
