Hamáček will travel to Moscow to discuss Sputnik vaccine

Deputy Prime Minister and acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Hamáček said that he will travel to Moscow next Monday in order to discuss the possibility of securing deliveries of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine.

Mr. Hamáček stressed that the vaccine would only be used if it gets the green light from the European Medicines Agency (EMA). However, he said that he wants the Czech Republic to be ready to purchase Sputnik V if the EMA does give its approval, pointing to German efforts to secure a pre-order of the Russian vaccine.
