Hamáček to stand again for head of Social Democrats

Jan Hamáček says he will run again for chairman of the Social Democrats, the junior party in the Czech governing coalition. Mr. Hamáček, who is minister of the interior, deputy prime minister and head of the national coronavirus task force, announced his intentions in an interview for Mladá fronta Dnes on Monday.

He will be challenged by Tomáš Petříček, the minister of foreign affairs, who says it is time to change the Social Democrats’ style of leadership.
