Hamáček: Covid measures effective, must remain in place another fortnight
The head of the Czech Republic’s coronavirus task force, Interior Minister Jan Hamáček, says the current restrictions aimed at curbing its spread have worked. Without them, he said, there would have been up to 25,000 confirmed new Covid cases a day, causing the country’s healthcare system to collapse.
Speaking on TV Prima, Mr. Hamáček said Czechs were nearing the home straight as regards the virus, adding that the current measures – including a ban on movement between districts – would need to stay in place for another fortnight.
