GPs may prescribe invermectin for Covid
The Czech Ministry of Health has given the green light for GPs to prescribe the antiviral drug ivermectin as treatment for Covid, as long as they inform patients about the risks involved and they consent to the treatment. The drug will be distributed to pharmacies around the country.
The antiparasitic agent is usually administered to animals, but some countries claim it has positive effects in the treatment of Covid-19.
Previously the ministry only allowed the drug to be administered in hospitals since it could potentially have serious side effects and patients treated with it needed to be kept under constant supervision.
