Government planning to reduce deficit by CZK 70 billion in next year’s budget

Prime Minister Petr Fiala said on Thursday that the Czech government is planning to reduce the state budget deficit by CZK 70 billion going into next year. This will be done through adjusting taxes, amending the state pensions system and cutting civil service jobs, he said, while at the same time promising that the overall tax burden will not be raised.

Finance Minister Zbyněk Stanjura said he hopes to put the planned adjustments up for debate in Parliament during the spring.
