Government increases subsistence minimum

The subsistence minimum, a minimum level of income which is considered necessary to ensure sustenance and other basic personal needs, will increase by 8.8 percent from CZK 4 250 to CZK 4 620, from July 1, Labour and Social Affairs Minister Marian Jurečka said after Wednesday’s cabinet session.The minimum wage will rise from CZK 2 740 to CZK 2 980. The government approved the hike in view of the soaring inflation which is now at over 16 percent. The subsistence minimum was last increased in April of this year, by ten percent.
