Government extends state of emergency in Hustopeče until August 25th
The state of emergency near Hustopeče nad Bečvou (Olomouc Region), where a train carrying dangerous benzene crashed and caught fire at the end of February, was extended for the fourth time on Wednesday by the government due to damage clearance. It is to be in effect until August 25th. This was announced by Environment Minister Petr Hladík.
The measure allows for faster organisation of the remediation of contaminated soil and water. The government can only extend the special regime in the area by thirty days at a time. If it had not been extended today, it would have ended on Saturday.
