Government extends fuel price regulation until November 30

The government has extended fuel price regulation until November 30, Finance Minister Alena Schillerová said after Monday’s government session.

The measures, in force since October 1, include price caps on petrol and diesel and a reduction in diesel excise duty. The government sets maximum prices for both fuels, while petrol stations are limited to a margin of CZK 2.50 per litre. Diesel excise duty has been cut by CZK 2.35 per litre.

Schillerová said the tax reduction was the maximum permitted under EU legislation.

Fuel price regulation was also introduced earlier this year, remaining in place from early April until mid-July.
