Government debating tighter coronavirus measures

The Czech government is meeting on Thursday to discuss a further tightening of coronavirus measures. Prime Minister Andrej Babiš said the situation was not progressing as hoped and the measures introduced at the end of December were clearly insufficient.

The prime minister ruled out the possibility that schools would reopen to more grades next week or that ski resorts would be allowed to operate in the coming days as anticipated.

He pointed out that other European states were also cautious in their approach.
