Government approves sending 650 Czech soldiers to Slovakia

The Czech government on Wednesday approved the sending of up to 650 soldiers to Slovakia. Most of the troops will serve with a multinational NATO force in Slovakia headed by the Czech Army. The remainder are to help the local authorities handle the influx of refugees from Ukraine following Russia’s attack on the country.

The mission, which would be mandated until the end of June next year, must now win the agreement of the Czech lower house.
