Government approves freezing of constitutional officials’ salaries
The Czech government has approved an amendment prepared by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs that includes the freezing of salaries for constitutional officials. This means that their salaries will not increase in the coming year.
Politicians’ base salaries were supposed to rise by more than CZK 5,000 from January of this year. However, the new legislation counts on keeping the salaries at CZK 84,060, as they were in previous years.
"We have only increased the tariff wages for those groups of employees who are at the forefront of the fight against coronavirus," Prime Minister Petr Fiala said on Wednesday. Vice-Premier Marian Jurečka added that this was done as an act of solidarity.
